JRS – Jesuit Refugee Service
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic non-governmental organisation founded in 1980. The mission of JRS is to accompany, serve and advocate the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced people worldwide. JRS is present in about 50 countries, serving and accompanying about 500,000 migrants every year.

In Portugal, JRS was established in 1992 and since then it has been supporting migrants and refugees by providing them social, psychological, medical and legal support, and by implementing projects that focus on language learning, training, skill development and labour market access.
The Talents and Skills Academy project aims to train refugees and migrants living in Portugal to facilitate their integration into the labour market. Developed in partnership with JRS Portugal and BNP Paribas Portugal CSR team, it combines the JRS mission of “accompanying, serving and defending” with BNP Paribas Group’s social commitment.

The project seeks to develop talents and skills through two key training courses aimed at personal, social and professional development: Employability Guidance and Teaching Methods.
The Employability Guidance course is structured into three modules:
- Personal development;
- Technical English;
- Technical skills.
The Teaching Methods course aims to contribute to the development of teaching skills, by refugees or migrants, for small groups of other people in the same situation who arrive at JRS.
