Academia dos Champs

Last update: 21 April 2026

Founded in 2009, Academia dos Champs (AdC) is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS). Its mission is to promote social inclusion through the practice of tennis, using sport as a tool to empower children and young people who are in situations of social vulnerability.

AdC is fully aligned with the BNP Paribas Portugal CSR strategy and has been actively contributing to its goals. Since 2012, the AdC partnership with BNP Paribas has aimed to support human‑rights protection and reduce social exclusion.

We believe that the values inherent in tennis – discipline, respect, teamwork and self‑esteem – foster personal development and confidence, which are crucial for facing future life challenges. As partners, BNP Paribas and Academia dos Champs work towards a common objective: integrate children and young adults at risk of social exclusion through the teaching of tennis.

Intervention model:

  1. Tennis centers – creation of centers in areas identified as priority, providing safe, high-quality access to the sport
  2. Fieldwork – student registration, regular meetings with partners, tennis lessons, tournaments and health check-ups
  3. Annual Merit Award – recognition that motivates students to improve their overall performance throughout the school year
  4. University AdC – a personalised mentoring programme that supports academic results, professional orientation and continued personal development

Through this integrated approach, Academia dos Champs turns the power of tennis into lasting social impact, turning “tennis champions” into champions for life.
