Since its creation, the BNP Paribas Portugal Foundation has deepened the Bank’s commitment to Portuguese society through its three areas of focus – Solidarity, Environment and Culture.
Within the Solidarity area, the Foundation is committed to promoting employment as a pathway to inclusion. As defined by the International Labour Organization, decent work provides a fair income, security, social protection, opportunities for personal development and social integration, as well as freedom of expression and equal treatment. Access to decent and meaningful jobs is therefore a powerful engine of social inclusion.
In Portugal, young people – especially those who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) – continue to face structural barriers to stable entry and participation in the labour market. Youth unemployment remains more vulnerable to economic instability, and gender‑ and migration‑related disparities persist. These challenges underline the need for targeted initiatives that strengthen labour‑market preparation and support sustainable transitions to decent work for at‑risk youth.
What the programme offers:
A grant up to €150 000 for one-three projects that improves employability, open pathways to stable jobs and raises income security for NEET youth (16-34 years) or who are at risk of becoming NEET.
Non-financial support such as BNP Paribas employee volunteering in Lisbon and Porto, plus in-kind assistance tailored to each partnership.
Who may apply:
Non-profit organisations (associations, IPSS, NGOs, etc.) legally established in Portugal, with at least two years of existence.
Entities that have demonstrable experience working with NEET youth in the last three years.
What we are looking for:
Initiatives that demonstrate a clear contribution to at least one employment‑related outcome, namely:
- Improved preparation for work and employability;
- Access to stable and decent jobs,
- Increased income security;
- Equal access to education and labour-market opportunities – and that are backed by:
- A realistic implementation plan in the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and/or Porto, for a maximum duration of 24 months (up to December 31, 2028);
- A clear theory of change;
- The delivery of concrete, tangible results for the intended final beneficiaries;
- Supported by clear, well‑defined impact indicators that allow the results of the interventions to be measured and monitored over time.
